Nasser Chanda is CEO of Paymerang, a financial technology company whose new space is in the Boulders office park.
Paymerang, a provider of electronic vendor payment processes, says it provides a simple, secure and profitable way for companies to automate their accounts payable disbursements — saving time and resources for their clients.
“Our company values are what drive our team and our success each, day,” the company says. “We live by the highest ethical standards, and we simplify complex problems and make payments easy.”
Its stated purpose: making business payment easy.
The values of the Chesterfield County-based company encompass integrity, passion and positivity, simplicity, teamwork and customer focus. Paymerang nabbed the No. 2 Top Workplace award this year in the small employer category.
“Our teamwork is unmatched,” according to the nomination. “We win and lose as a team and deliver fantastic products and amazing customer experiences in the process. Most importantly, we love what we do, and we look forward to each day.”
Founded in 2010, Paymerang partners with local organizations to support children in need. It has worked with Feed More, Habitat for Humanity, Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, and local schools.
Employees can volunteer on company time. The staff has prepared backpack meals for children, worked at a Habitat ReStore location, collected school supplies and donated toys.
Paymerang participates in Seneca Resources’ program to donate and decorate pumpkins for children in local pediatric units. It also sponsors charity golf tournaments for Virginia Commonwealth University athletics and the Children’s Home Society of Virginia.
In addition, employees team with the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership to help promote ethics in public service and bipartisanship at the high school and college levels.
Paymerang has doubled in size in the past year, growing from 27 employees to 54. It recently moved to the Boulders office park, tripling the size of its space.
In March 2018, Vienna-based Aldrich Capital Partners invested $26 million in Paymerang.
The company pays 100 percent of employee medical, dental and vision premiums. It also provides wellness initiatives, company-sponsored race teams for local events, free workouts on company time, and daily walks to get outside and enjoy the outdoors.
Paymerang offers a 6 percent nonelective 401(k) plan match, meaning employees get the money regardless of whether they contribute to their retirement plans. In addition, it hosts financial seminars so its employees can learn from certified financial advisers about managing finances, budgeting, saving, and managing or eliminating debt.
The company values work-life balance, offering 15 days of paid time off and 10 paid holidays as well as maternity and paternity leave for births and adoptions. It provides breakfast and unlimited snacks “so employees’ appetites don’t interrupt their workflow,” according to the nomination.
Paymerang also offers incentives such as free car detailing for employees at work, ice cream truck visits and birthday celebrations.
And it hosts family nights at the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Kickers sporting events so employees can get to know one another outside of work and spend time with their families.
